Mui Ne, Vietnam, in Pictures - Day 1

Our trip to Mui Ne started on a cramped bus, which lasted about two hours longer than scheduled. Once we arrived in Mui Ne, though, it was easy to forget the unpleasant transportation.

Mmm...Seaweed Pringles.

Our hotel was very nice and incredibly clean. The only drawback was that it is located on the dirtier part of the beach. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time.

After sleeping for a couple of hours (we arrived in the wee hours of the morning), we headed down to the beach. Doug went for a swim while I lounged on a comfy beach chair and read a book.

After Doug's swim, he happened upon this piece of glass in the water. Good thing he didn't step on it!

After Doug finished his workout, we rented a jet ski. It was incredibly fun!

After showering and changing, we headed to the hotel's restaurant for lunch.

In true Stacy and Doug fashion, we were running behind, so we had to hurry and finish our meal. We met our tour guide and set out for Fairy Stream, a fishing bay, and the white and red sand dunes.

Our first stop was Fairy Stream, where we saw tons of vats of fish sauce being made. It smelled awful.

We saw this fancy sign right as we walked in.

Fairy stream was incredibly beautiful and the soft mud at the bottom of the stream felt wonderful on our tired feet.

It must also be the luckiest place on earth, because it is filled with four leaf clovers.

Here we are at the top of a short, sandy hill that overlooks the valley.

We didn't stay long since our tour guide was rushing us along. My favorite part was running and jumping down this hill. So fun!

Our next stop was at a fishing bay.

These girls were trying out their English on us as we walked around. They waved at us as we got into our jeep and headed toward the white sand dunes.

I thought some of my friends back home would be interested in the Vietnamese version of a Christian church. Neat architecture, no?

We finally arrived at the white sand dunes. My first stop: the most disgusting bathroom I have ever, ever been in. Let's just put it this way: I washed my feet afterward, as did everyone else.

The entrance to the dunes was very pretty, but we didn't have much time to explore as we were a little rushed on our tour.

We rented a four wheeler (which later broke down on the side of a sand dune) and explored the dunes.

Doug was being a bit wild, so I sent him off and explored a little on my own.

He then picked me up and we headed to the other side of the dunes.

...and subsequently broke down. The black spot near the top of the dune is our four wheeler.

After the white dunes, we headed to the red sand dunes. I attempted to capture the color in this photo, but the light was low and I had to use the flash. It didn't really turn out, but you can tell that it's kind of an orange-ish color.

These kids followed us around and we eventually rented sand sleds from them.

After a long day in a topless jeep, my hair wasn't looking its best.

Our day ended with the red sand dunes and we headed to dinner in Mui Ne. It was a wonderful trip and we're looking forward to going again. You can read more about it in my first post about Mui Ne.
